iomart group plc appoint finance director
Iomart, group plc, the integrated telecommunications and internet services company that floated on AIM recently, today announces the appointment of David Harrison to the board as Finance Director with immediate effect.
David Harrison MEng, MBA, FCMA (40) has had wide experience in international financial management, corporate management and mergers and acquisitions.
In 1990 he joined Bond Helicopters Ltd, an Aberdeen based helicopter company as Finance Controller and was appointed Finance Director in 1993. In 1994 he was involved with the merger of two businesses to create Helicopter Services Group where he continued in a financial role and became Chief Financial Officer in 1997.
Before being bought over by CHC Helicopters Corporation of Canada, Helicopters Services Group was one of the world's largest providers of transport for the offshore oil industry and as listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with revenues of £200 million, profits of £10 million and operating aircraft in 20 countries.
Prior to Helicopter Services Group he was employed by Price Waterhouse Management Consultants from 1987 to 1990 and from 1984-1987 by Shell Expro.
Nick Kuenssberg, chairman of iomart group plc said: "David will be a valuable asset and will provide the vital financial management role in expanding the company. Added Harrison: "My role is to look at the big picture nationally and internationally and keep abreast of the regulatory environment. There's also a lot going to be happening in terms of deals and alliances with other companies in such a rapidly changing and dynamic industry."
Away from his desk Harrison is a family man with three children and interested in outdoor pursuits including hill walking and sailing.
He was born in Elgin in the Highlands of Scotland and attended Rugby School before entering Cambridge University where he gained an Engineering degree. He went on to complete an MBA in the States and returned to the UK to become an accountant with oil giant, Shell.
He then had a spell as a management consultant with another blue chip company, Price Waterhouse prior to his appointment as Finance Director of Bond Helicopters. Latterly, Harrison was Finance Director of Helicopter Services Group, the Norwegian listed company that acquired Bond Helicopters.
