Interviews Take Place For The 40 Jobs At Shawbost
With up to 40 jobs to be filled in the Consumer Direct contact centre in Shawbost, interviews took place this week to recruit staff.
Telecom Service Centres are delighted with the response to their recruitment search for the project which the company are running in partnership with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. They also operate from five other Scottish locations ? Rothesay, Dunoon, Greenock, Falkirk and Aviemore.
?We have had a very encouraging reaction from the people of Lewis to the project,? said Tony Thomas, TSC?s Chief Executive.
?A great number of local people seem to be keen to be part of this exciting new venture ? and not just local people. We even had an inquiry from Canada where someone spotted the recruitment advert on the Internet.? he said.
Consumer Direct is a contact centre offering information on consumer affairs.
?We had superb co-operation from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar,? says Tony Thomas. ?It is a great start to our working relationship and we are pursuing other areas whereby we might work together in the near future and hopefully create more jobs.?
Up to 40 people will be employed by TSC in Shawbost in a mixture of part time and full time contacts. The total employment will add up to the equivalent of 25 full time jobs.
All the TSC jobs, including the most senior role of Contact Centre Manager, will be based on the island.
The Comhairle are delighted at the interest shown in the Shawbost Centre. ?We are very pleased at the high level of response from applicants,? said a Comhairle spokespeson.
?The Comhairle worked very hard against stiff competition from across the UK to land this DTI initiative and a response like this makes the efforts very worthwhile,? added the spokesperson.
